American Legion - High School Oratorical Scholarship Program  - http://www.legion.org/programs/youthprograms/oratorical

Early High School Graduation Scholarship Program - Provides tuition and fee assistance to students who graduate from high school having completed grades 9-12 in no more than 36 or 41 months.  It also provides funds for students graduating in 36, 41, or 45 months with a significant number of college credit hours.

Lamar County Rotary Four-Way Speech Contest - High school students must write a speech  no shorter than five minutes or longer than seven - see Pam Stotts for more information - 

Lamar Electric Cooperative - High School students can "Shoot a Video and Win $1500".  Students are encouraged to make their own video - high school students must reside with a parent or guardian in a home served by an electric cooperative in Texas - see more details at www.TexasCoopPower.com for full contest rules and entry forms.

Texas Co-op Power - Lamar Electric Cooperative - Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors whose parents/guardians reside full-time in Lamar Electric Coop's service territory are eligible to enter a contest for an all-expense paid trip to Washington DC.

Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) - Students may complete their last two years of high school concurrently with the first two years of college at UNT in Denton.  Admission criteria includes a competitive sophomore SAT, teacher evaluations and 7th - 10th grade transcripts.  For further information go to www.tams.unt.edu or call 1-800-241-8267.

2009 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards - Students in grades 9-12 who are involved in community service can apply with the counselor to compete at the state level for $1,000 and possibly go on to compete at the national level for $5,000.  For more information go to www.prudential.com/spirit .  The deadline to submit your information to your counselor is October 15.  Only one student can be chosen to represent Chisum at the state level.

 

Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards - Students in grades 9-12 who run their own business can apply online atwww.tcuyeya.org for scholarships to any university.  Students who attend TCU will have their awards doubled.
