Director of Technology – Jeff Rogers

Jeff RogersAs the Director of Technology for Chisum ISD, it is my task to set the vision for, and manage the implementation and maintenance of a sound technology plan for the district. This includes ensuring we have the infrastructure (e.g., bandwidth, wireless, end user devices) and policies and practices needed to support modern education practices and to increase learning in the classrooms. Today this includes supporting over 1000 students and 140 staff members across three campuses. I am responsible for directly managing the operations of a small internal IT department and relationships with critical IT partners and vendors. It is my goal to work closely with our school administrators and teachers to understand their needs and identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of our educational and business initiatives.

My approach to technology leadership in the district is centered on four key principles:

  • Create a positive and successful customer service culture that is focused on removing barriers to teaching and learning
  • Demonstrate excellence in project management and implementation
  • Provide effective communication and opportunities for training when needed
  • Remain up to date on solid technical skills in order to get things done and done well.

ERATE Category 2 - Network Refresh RFP

Questions and answers for the 2024 Category 2 RFP Network Refresh will be posted here

  • Yes, these are avilable on request and will not be posted online.  Drawings are our best effort as there has been construction over the years, and we do not have a current set of digitized drawings that is comprehensive.

  • I believe all Access Points are on Cat5e.  I am unable to provide numbers for the rest of the copper as most of that was done many years ago.

  • Yes.  Three of our current AP’s may require a lift.

  • We don't want to cut it too close on the port reduction.  We would like to stay with 24/48 port switches.

  • We want stacks.  Each closet has a fiber uplink back to the building core.  The building cores have a fiber uplink back to the district core.

  • Our current switches support POE+ (802.3at) - However, you should spec the switches to adequately accommodate the Access Points you intend to propose.
